The process control board controls the machine’s operation: it receives the data from its sensors, processes them and actuates given commands
The characteristics which come into play when defining the structure of a process control board are many and various, but can be divided into three main categories
Various types of microprocessor, from 8 to 32 bit, can be used to manage the functions of a machine, depending on the application.
These microprocessors allow both the machine’s basic functions and the most advanced ones to be managed. Thirty-two-bit microprocessors combine excellent performance and complex mathematical calculations thanks to integrated co-processors with a high level of functionality.
Micro Systems’ process control boards support many and various different types of input sensors, according to the customer’s requirements and specifications. Some of the most important of these are listed below:
Output actuators send various types of commands to the machine:
E.g. relays, triacs etc.
E.g. 4-20 milliamp, 0-10 volt outputs
VARIOUS FIELD BUSES
RS232, RS485, CAN Bus, Ethernet etc. drive actuators such as inverters, brushless motors and stepper motors, and also allow bidirectional communication with external sensors and actuators.
